A spooky twist on dessert, this Zombie Head Cake combines chocolate cake with creative decorations, perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • Green and brown food coloring
  • Buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)
  • Candy eyes
  • Gummy worms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven as per the instructions provided on your cake mix box, generally around 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Prepare a head-shaped cake mold by greasing it and pouring the batter into it evenly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven according to package instructions until a toothpick comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
  5. Cool the cake completely in the mold before carefully removing it.
  6. Carve the cooled cake to create contours for a more monstrous appearance, if desired.
  7. Color the buttercream frosting with green and brown food coloring until you achieve a zombie skin tone.
  8. Frost the cake with the colored buttercream evenly.
  9. Add chocolate ganache over specific areas for a ‘blood’ effect.
  10. Decorate the cake with candy eyes and gummy worms for maximum creepiness.

Notes

Use high-quality cake mix for richer flavor; avoid overmixing to keep the cake fluffy.
