A classic Beef Stroganoff recipe that combines tender beef, creamy sauce, and comforting noodles for a delightful family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
  • 8 ounces of cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 8 ounces of egg noodles
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sear the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the beef strips in a single layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add chopped onion and sliced mushrooms. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender.
  4. Add Garlic: Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  5. Make the Sauce: Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 5 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Combine Everything: Lower the heat and return the browned beef to the skillet. Stir in the sour cream until fully combined, allowing everything to heat through. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve: Toss the cooked egg noodles with the beef mixture until well coated. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, allow sour cream to come to room temperature before adding it to the hot mixture.
