Delightful and comforting gluten free apple fritters, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups gluten-free flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup almond milk (or any dairy-free milk)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup diced apples
  • Oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water (for icing glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon until well-blended.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the almond milk and apple cider vinegar. Allow them to sit for a minute to curdle slightly.
  3. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  4. Add Apples: Fold in the diced apples carefully to avoid breaking them down.
  5. Heat Oil: In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat. You’ll need about 1 to 2 inches of oil for frying.
  6. Fry Fritters: Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry each fritter for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  8. Make Icing: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with water until smooth, adjusting the consistency as needed.
  9. Glaze Fritters: While the fritters are still warm, drizzle the icing over them generously.
  10. Serve and Enjoy: These fritters are best served warm and can be enjoyed directly after glazing.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix, maintain oil temperature, and use fresh apples.
