Delicious and fun-to-make caramel popcorn balls that are perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Stir constantly as it heats.
  3. Once the mixture comes to a boil, stop stirring and let it boil without stirring for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda.
  5. Pour the hot caramel over the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl. Gently mix until all the popcorn is evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the caramel-coated popcorn onto your prepared baking sheet. Shape the mixture into balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  7. Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove the popcorn balls from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

Use fresh popcorn for the best flavor and texture. Be cautious when handling hot sugar syrup.
