Addictive Mayak Eggs are savory Korean soy-marinated eggs that elevate any meal with their rich umami flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs by placing them in a pot filled with water, bringing it to a boil, and cooking for 7-8 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
  2. Cool and place the eggs in a bowl of ice water to cool quickly before carefully peeling them.
  3. Mix the marinade by combining soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, and water in a bowl and stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Marinate the peeled eggs by placing them in a clean jar and pouring the marinade over them, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  5. Add chopped green onions into the jar with the eggs.
  6. Refrigerate and let the eggs marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  7. Serve the marinated eggs as a snack or in dishes like sandwiches or bibimbap.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute low-sodium soy sauce. Fresh garlic provides the best flavor and adjust the green onion to your preference.
